UNIVERSIDAD NACIONAL DE COLOMBIA FISICA ELECTRICIDAD Y MAGNETISMO Profesor: Jaime Villalobos Sergio Martínez Camilo Romero Lina Camargo Catalina Rico Daniela Nieto • Un reloj atómico es un tipo de reloj que utiliza una frecuencia de resonancia atómica normal para alimentar su contador. • El primero fue construido en 1948 por el Willard Frank Libby de EEUU, fue un dispositivo de máser de amoniaco basándose en las ideas sobre un fenómeno extremadamente regular, la resonancia magnética molecular y atómica, del Nobel Isidor Isaac Rabi, era menos exacto que los relojes de cuarzo existentes. Willard Libby Los relojes atómicos se utilizan para generar las frecuencias estándar. Se instalan en los sitios de señales de tiempo, LORAN-C, y transmisores de Alfa de navegación. Además, son la base del sistema de navegación GPS.
