Manufacturing • Manufacturing has witnessed large job losses in the last 5 years- even longer at the national level. • Manufacturing is not expected to grow significantly in coming years. • Manufacturing may still face some workforce shortages due to retirements (negative perceptions of the new workforce?) but also shifting skill sets resulting from new technologies. • Manufacturing is not going to go away but it is going to be transformed.

  9. Hennepin Technical Pathways Career pathways are “steps” designed to guide students from high school to the workplace, and/or postsecondary education

Hennepin Technical Pathways • Consists of a coherent, articulated sequence of career/technical courses. • Leads to an associate degree, baccalaureate degree, an industry-recognized certificate and/or licensure. • Developed, implemented, and maintained in partnership among secondary and postsecondary education, business and employers. • Available to all students.

  11. Students • Receive quality technical education. • Work on state-of-the-art equipment. • Develop a foundation of technical knowledge and skills. • Transition into the college environment.

  12. Registration • See a high school counselor. • Complete the enrollment form. • Classes are scheduled Monday through Friday for approximately two-hours. • Section I: 8:00 to 9:40 a.m. • Section II 10:00 to 11:40 a.m. • Section III 12:10 to 1:45 p.m. Transportation is provided by most member school districts.

  24. Funding • Career and Technical Education receives additional funding in the form of cooperative revenue. • It is a tuition based program with an hourly rate. • Differential Tuition Rate • General Ed. basic rate = $9.43 per hour • Special Ed. and 504 rate = $11.74 per hour
