  1. There are two things you MUST have for this class: • A clicker • MyITLab access, which includes two ebooks ($65, link from our class page) MyITLab and Web

  2. Today we are covering three things: • More class specifics • How to buy and get into MyITLab • How to begin your Web page (PTP0) MyITLab and Web

How to buy and get into MyITLab • Click on “Purchase” link on class web page • Use credit card to purchase four-year access code and ebooks for $65 • Get access code at book store if you’re on financial aid • Click on “Use” link on class web page • Get Course ID from “Use” link… sign up for that Course ID, which will put you in OMIS 259 for this semester. • Log in by clicking on the “Student Login” on the left. • If you’re using your own computer, click on the “Start Here…” folder within the Course Content tab of MyITLab.com, and run the “One Step Installer and Launch Tool” (I found I needed to save it to my hard drive first, then double click to run) so your computer will run MyITLab correctly.   4. Make sure you have a valid MyITLab account and can get into MyITLab before next week (first assignment is due next week– see schedule)

  5. Assignments start soon and are given almost EVERY class day the remainder of the semester. SEE SCHEDULE ONLINE! • There are four types of assignments for each chapter: • Project-Based Training, 10% • Skill-Based Exam, 40% • Grader Project Homework, 10% • Grader Project Assessment, 40% MyITLab

  6. Project-Based Training: You can go through this UNLIMITED times, 10 tries per question. Basically, it’s a free “A”. It’s trying to teach you something. MyITLab

  7. Project-Based Training: They’re pretty obvious if you know the material already. WANT TO BLOW THEM OFF? You may. Then that 10% goes to the Skill-Based Exam (which then counts 50%) for that chapter. MyITLab

  8. Skill-Based Exam: You can go through these TWO times, 5 tries per question. Each time you have 1 hour total. Your best score will be saved. • Computer crashed? Family emergency? That’s why we’re giving you two tries… pretend your first try is your ONLY try. MyITLab

  9. Grader-Project Homework: You can go through UNLIMITED times. You should view these as training for the Grader-Project Assessment. These count 10%, and they’re pretty obvious if you know the material already. WANT TO BLOW THEM OFF? You may. Then that 10% goes to the Grader-Project Assessment (which then counts 50%) for that chapter. MyITLab

  10. Grader-Project Assessment : You can go through these TWO times with no time limit. Your best score will be saved. • Computer crashed? Family emergency? That’s why we’re giving you two tries… pretend your first try is your ONLY try. MyITLab

  11. We’re covering Chapters 1-6 in Excel and 1-4 in Access, so you have TEN (10) of each of these, meaning 40 MyITLab assignments total. You need to read the ebook for each Chapter to supplement what we do in class. • Project-Based Training: Ch. 1-6 Excel, 1-4 Access • Skill-Based Exam: Ch. 1-6 Excel, 1-4 Access • Grader Project Homework: Ch. 1-6 Excel, 1-4 Access • Grader Project Assessment: Ch. 1-6 Excel, 1-4 Access MyITLab

  12. OPTIONALLY, you can listen to the Audio PowerPoint presentation or view the Conceptual Animation. These are there to give you extra support if you would like. • Additionally, you can optionally view/complete Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, or Windows 7 training/exercises. These will not be graded. MyITLab

  13. 3. How to start your web page • Watch the videos on the online schedule to see how to create your Google Sites web page. • Click on the PTP0 link on the class schedule to see the assignment requirements. MyITLab and Web
