This report details the visibility of smoke from the Whitewater-Baldy Complex Fire in New Mexico as observed via the VIIRS satellite on May 29, 2012. The smoke plume is most evident in channel M-02, where it stands out against the background. Although brighter in M-01, the surface interferes with contrast. Results indicate that smoke is significantly more visible in channel M-03 (blue band) compared to M-05 (red band), with the smoke plume nearly invisible in the red channel over West Texas.
