Mission Statement • A Woman’s Place A Woman’s Place is a non-profit organization whose mission is “to shelter and help empower victims/survivors of domestic abuse to become safe, secure and self-reliant; and through education and collaboration, to mobilize our community to help prevent domestic violence.”

  4. Ultimate Goal • Make AWP more efficient using the tools they already have.

  5. Fall Semester Project • Continue building plone-based website. • Acquire a server for AWP • Fix network • Set-up file-database at their HQ • Secure server, and prep for website hosting

  7. Funding for Server • Donor letter from last semester granted us $1000 • Enough money to purchase server

  8. Purchasing Server • Research for most efficient server type/build • Compile proposal to AWP to purchase sever • Proposal recently approved

  9. What is Plone? • Plone is an open source content manager that is built on object-oriented Zope application server. • Plone can run on various platforms and has support for internationalization, and complies with accessibility and usability standards. • Plone is good to be used for intranet and extranet servers, document publishing, portal server, and groupware, which is used for collaboration between separately located places.

  11. Update Website • Reasons: • Current site is purely HTML based • Unable to update/change without knowledge of HTML • Editing in Plone is simple • Changing content in Plone is as simple as using a word-processing program • Cost AWP money • Looks Plain

  14. Summary • Server Team: • Fixed network structure at HQ • Researched server with optimal settings for funds given • Prepared set-up plan for server security and maintenance • Compiled proposal to buy server • Looked into security settings

Summary • Web Team: • Redesigned overall website layout • Designed new page layouts • Implemented Calendar • Implemented Donation Page • Made progress on alternative Spanish site • Content Team • Gathered more content for website • Revised current content • Documented progress and gathered more information
