The most serious problem in the world is rubbish. We live among litter and wastes which we have created ourselves. Pollution is very dangerous for people, wildlife and the environment. Many countries bury and forget about millions of tons of rubbish every year.
Why throw away so much? • The Green World reports say that in one year the average person throws away: about 70 food cans, 34 cans of pet food and about 70 drinks cans. • Many things that we throw away can still be useful. In fact it is possible to recycle 80% of domestic rubbish. • But only 4% of recyclable material is actually recycled.
People should: Avoid buying products in packaging. • Never drop litter • Don’t waste paper • We can ride bicycles • Try not to waste energy • Organize clean up days • Throw personal litter into rubbish bins • Put litter separately into the rubbish bins
What should governments do: • Build recycling centers. • Put different rubbish bins for different wastes
