Irish Perspectives of EPICC Competencies • Aims • To review National Health Policy and Quality Standards Documents for Inclusion of Spirituality and EPICC Competencies. • To review of NMBI Regulatory Documentation for Inclusion of Spirituality and EPICC Competencies. • To review Nurse Registration Programmes and Midwifery Programmes for Inclusion of Spirituality and EPICC Competencies. • Full mapping exercise of 9 competencies across 5 disciplines of BSc Nursing and Midwifery from theoretical and practical perspectives for 2009 and 2018 curriculi. • To ascertain Heads of Discipline and Discipline Members’ views.

Challenges and Way Forward • Develop Global Spiritual Literacy on subject • Increase visibility of C6, C7, C8, C9 C10 within programmes • Introduce concept of compassionate care, newer concepts availability, presence not taught formally within programme. • Focus on Meaning Making Frameworks and Existential questions. • Ways to increase students experiential learning and understanding of subject. • Increase awareness and visibility in clinical practice around spiritual assessment, care planning, clinical decision making and patient documentation.
