  2. The Green Ribbon Once upon a time, there was a girl named Jenny.

  3. The Green Ribbon She was like all the other girls, except for one thing.

  4. The Green Ribbon She always wore a green ribbon around her neck.

  5. The Green Ribbon There was a boy named Jerome in her class.

  6. The Green Ribbon Jerome liked Jenny, and Jenny liked Jerome.

  7. The Green Ribbon One day he asked her,“Why do you wear that ribbon all the time?”

  8. The Green Ribbon “I cannot tell you,” said Jenny.

  9. The Green Ribbon But Jerome kept asking, “Why do you wear it?”

  10. The Green Ribbon And Jenny would say, “It is not important.”

  11. The Green Ribbon Jenny and Jerome grew up and fell in love.

  12. The Green Ribbon One day they got married.

  13. The Green Ribbon After their wedding, Jerome said,

  21. The Green Ribbon Jenny called Jerome to her side.

  22. The Green Ribbon “Jerome,” she said, “now I can tell you about the green ribbon.

  23. The Green Ribbon Untie it, and you’ll see why I couldn’t tell you before.”

  24. The Green Ribbon Slowly and carefully, Jerome untied the ribbon,
