OVERVIEW OF THE VISION • This revelation includes accounts of six separate visions. • A Vision of Jesus Christ (vs 1-24) • A Vision of Lucifer (vs 25-30) • A Vision of the Sons of Perdition (vs 31-49) • A Vision of the Celestial Kingdom (vs 50-70,92-96) • A Vision of the Terrestrial Kingdom (vs 71-80, 91, 97) • A Vision of the Telestial Kingdom (vs 81-90, 98-112)

  3. A Vision of Jesus Christ (vs 1-24) • “Those things which were seen from the beginning” v. 12-29 • Saw and conversed with Christ and beheld his glory v. 14-24

  4. 2. A Vision of Lucifer (vs 25-30) • Lucifer does exist and is a living personage. (See D&C 76:28) • Lucifer ". . . was in authority . . ." in the premortal life. (See D&C 76:25) • He “rebelled against the Only Begotten Son . . . [he] . . . was thrust down from the presence of God and the Son." (D&C 76:25; See also D&C 29:36) • The heavens wept over Lucifer when he fell. (See D&C 76:26

A Vision of Sons of Perdition (vs 31-49) • The Lord reveals seven conditions that will lead a covenant member of the church into the awful status of a son of perdition: (See D&C 76:31,35; D&C88:34-35; Heb 6:4-6) • 1. Know the power of God • 2. Partake of God's power • 3. Allow himself to be overcome by the power of the devil • 4. Deny the truth • 5. Defy God's power • 6. Deny the Holy Spirit after having received it v. 35 • 7. Deny the only begotten Son v. 35

A Vision of Sons of Perdition (vs 31-49) • As to the ultimate fate of sons of perdition, the Lord informs us that only they who become such, will have a full knowledge of the nature of such punishment. (See D&C 76:44-48) • However, it should be understood that the sons of perdition will be resurrected, though they will not be redeemed from their sins nor will they inherit a kingdom of glory. (See D&C 76:36-39)

  7. 4. A Vision of the Celestial Kingdom (vs 50-70,92-96) • Determining Conditions • Receive the testimony of Jesus v.51 • Receive baptism v.51 • Receive the Holy Ghost v.52 • Kept the commandments v.53 • Overcome by faith v.53 • Been sealed by the Holy Spirit of Promise v.53

A Vision of the Celestial Kingdom (vs 50-70,92-96) • Rewards, Opportunities, and Limitations • Descend with Christ at his Second Coming v.63 • Come forth in the first resurrection v.64-65 • Come to Mt. Zion and to God’s heavenly city v.66 • Associate with angels, with the general assembly, and with the Church of Enoch and the Firstborn v.67 • Overcome all things v.60 • Receive all things from the Father v.55, 59 • Dwell forever in the presence of God and Christ v.62 • Minister to terrestrial and telestial beings v.87,88

A Vision of the Terrestrial Kingdom (vs 71-80, 91, 97) • Determining Conditions • Those who died without law v.72 • Those kept in spirit prison who were not receptive to the testimony of Jesus on earth but afterwards accepted it v.73-74 • Honorable men of the earth who were blinded by the craftiness of other v.75 • Those who accepted the testimony of Jesus but were not valiant therein v.79

A Vision of the Terrestrial Kingdom (vs 71-80, 91, 97) • Rewards, Opportunities, Limitations • Will have part in the first resurrection following the resurrection of celestial beings • Fail to obtain the crown over the kingdom of God v.79 • Receive of God’s glory but not of his fullness v.76 • Receive of the presence of the Son but not of the fullness of the Father v.77 • Receive of the Holy Spirit through ministrations of Celestial beings v.87 • Will be ministers to the telestial kingdom v.86

A Vision of the Telestial Kingdom (vs 81-90, 98-112) • Rewards, Opportunities, and Limitations • Will come forth in the last resurrection v.85 • Will suffer the wrath of God on earth v.104 • Be cast down to hell and there suffer for their sins until Christ has completed his work v.85, 105-06 • Can never go where God and Christ dwell v.112 • Are denied God’s fullness v.86 • May receive of the Holy Spirit through the ministrations of beings from higher glories v.86, 88 • Servants of the Most High v.112 • Inhabitants of this kingdom will be innumerable v.109

Testimony • And now, after the many testimonies which have been given of him, this is the testimony, last of all, which we give of him: That he lives! • For we saw him, even on the right hand of God; and we heard the voice bearing record that he is the Only Begotten of the Father—That by him, and through him, and of him, the worlds are and were created, and the inhabitants thereof are begotten sons and daughters unto God. • D&C 76:23-24
