  1. A Transformed mind is a mind of a Peacemaker! Romans 12:16-17 Sermon by Rev: M.H Maluleka 27 October 2013

  2. Romans 12:16-17 (Text: NIV) 16 Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight. 17 Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. 18 If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. 19 Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord

  3. INTRODUCTION • “Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, • but be willing to associate with people of low position… • Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody. • If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone”

  4. Introduction… • God wants to use His body to transform the world • But before He could do that, the body must be healthy, to be useful. • The bodies must be given as a living sacrifice as worship to God. • We must understand what God’s will is for our lives • Our minds must be transformed into heavenly minded entities. (world virus removed, no life of my own.)

  5. Introduction… • God wants to use a healthy body to heal the world! • The Lord Jesus Christ Himself emphasised the life of a transformed minded Christian in the beatitudes. “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of heaven.” ( Matthew 5:9) • The writer of the book of Hebrews also says: “Make every effort to live in peace with all men and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord.” (Hebrews 12:14)

  6. Introduction… • Kale in his book titled:‘ Managing Conflict in the Church’: • He introduces the reader to what we can call the four pillars of a Christian Community • which I found to be a reflection of what Paul is dealing with in the verses we have just read.

  7. Respect. (Verse 3) - Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought… ( Verse 10) - Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honour one another above yourselves. • Respect for yourself. • Respect for the views of others. • Respect for the common good of the body.

  8. Appreciation of the variety of gifts in the body. (6-8) • Accountability. (Genesis 4:9) 9 Then the Lord said to Cain, “Where is your brother Abel?” “I don’t know,” he replied. “Am I my brother’s keeper?” (New International Version )

  9. Forgiveness. (Luke 23:34; Acts 7:60) • Luke 23:34 Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.”And they divided up his clothes by casting lots.(NIV) • Acts 7: 60

  10. Conclusion • No life of my own! • “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” Galatians 2:20 • The bottom line of Christian living or Holiness is relationships!
