Research Paper Topics help on choosing a good topic

Three Rules • I approve/decline topics. • Topics must be arguable. • Do not choose Abortion or Euthanasia. • There must be reputable evidence for and against the topic. • You’ll include both in your paper.

Helpful Tip • Try to choose a topic related to your chosen career path. Perhaps you can use the paper at University. This is NOT mandatory.

Sample Topic • Let’s say I want to study education in college. Choosing an education-related topic will help me because I’ll probably have to write something about education. Maybe I can use my paper then, too (or at least some of it).

The issue of year-round school is big. Let’s see if it will make a good topic: • Will I find reputable evidence both for and against it? • Will there be enough evidence, or is the topic too new? • Is it too related to religion/faith? It is impossible to argue those topics. You’ll have zero chance of persuading some people.

So…. • Year-Round Schools Improve Public Education. OR • Year-Round Schools Do Not Improve Public Education. • I don’t know the answer yet. However, I’ll make my decision as I read the books/articles about it.

These Topics are Problematic. • Environment. • Gun Control. • We Should Stop School. • People Should Be Nicer. • We Should Be Healthier. • Ste. Genevieve Should Have Recycling Pick-Up.
