Formation of Plurals • Words ending in a, retain the a and add e: • Vertebra vertebrae • Bursa Bursae (sacs of fluid near a joint) • Words ending in is, drop the is and add es • Diagnosis diagnoses • Psychosis psychoses • Words ending with ex or ix, drop either and add ices • Apex apices • Cortex cortices • Words ending with on, drop on and add a • Ganglion ganglia • Words ending with um, drop the um and add a • Bacterium bacteria • Words ending with us, drop the us and add i • Bronchus bronchi
