  1. Welcome toCasteel High School Mr. Nedow Digital Photo 100/200 & Digital Media Lab A

Who is Mr. Nedow? • Native to Michigan • Graduated from Central Michigan University & Northern Arizona Univ. • Working in District since 2005 • Have a wife (Angie) son (Cole) and daughter (Corrine) • Coach 7th Grade Boys Basketball • Taught 7th/8th Science, Computer Apps, PLTW, Digital Media and Photo

Student Expectations and Grading • Materials: Flash Drive (4GB+) & DSLR Camera (Optional for Digital Photo), Color Printed 8x10 image per quarter (Photo classes only) Portfolio Book (200 Level class only) • Class Materials Fee: $25 due at bookstore or online • Grading: Classes will be graded by a total point system including homework, classwork, projects, quizzes and exams

  4. Semester Grade Breakdown: 1stSemester 1st Quarter Grade 40% 2ndQuarter Grade 40% Final Exam 20% 2nd Semester 3rd Quarter Grade 40% 4th Quarter Grade 40% Final Exam 20%

Digital Media Curriculum Quarter #1 • I will be able to understand what digital media is and the laws that apply to the profession. • I will be able to understand the basic features of Adobe Illustrator and how to use them to create different designs. • I will be able to understand the design process within digital media processes and how elements of design and principles of design help to create them. • I will be able to understand the basic features of Adobe Illustrator and how to use them to create different designs.

  6. Digital Media Curriculum Quarter #2 • I will be able to understand the difference between Raster (Pixel) digital art and Vector (Shape) digital art. • I will be able to understand the basic features of Adobe Photoshop and how to use them to manipulate images. • I will be able to understand the basic features of Adobe Premiere Pro and how to use them to create different video productions.

  7. Digital Photography 100/200 Curriculum • Analyze the media industry, its business practices and its role in the economy • Investigate intellectual property law and rights management • Demonstrate verbal and nonverbal communication skills required by the media industry • Demonstrate written communication skills required by the media industry

Digital Photography 100/200 Curriculum • Utilize computer applications to manage media • Apply knowledge of data capture and manipulation • Engage in pre-production/planning phase of a photography shoot • Implement plan(s) for acquiring or creating a product in accordance with production phase tasks in digital photography

Digital Photography 100/200 Curriculum • Perform tasks in post-production phase of product refinement in digital photography • Deliver/distribute product(s) using various media in accordance with consumer expectations in digital photography • Monitor quality assurance of product creation concurrent with all phases of production in digital photography • Present product(s) to selected audience(s) using media in digital photography
