  1. Fabrication of a Microchannel Device Using a Digital Projector By: Adrian Beltran and ShivaniSingh Mentors: Matthew Alonso and Joe Muskin 12/07/2010 Beltran and Singh

  2. The Problem Beltran and Singh • Create a multilayer, microchannel device • Why is this important? • Current process is expensive • The process produces a reusable template

  3. Process from Cleanroom 1. Clean wafer 2. Pour polymer 3. Prepare for printing 5. Clean wafer 4. Shine UV light 3 Beltran and Singh

  4. Experimental Setup Beltran and Singh • Materials • Laptop, monomer, projector and spin coater • Process

  5. RPM Study Beltran and Singh • Purpose • Measure the thickness dependence on RPM speed • Tested at 50, 100, 150 and 200 RPM • Measured using a Profilometer

  6. Fabricating the Microchannel Beltran and Singh • Found that it is possible to print the image • Problems arise when you need to clean off excess polymer • Long build times

  7. Conclusions Beltran and Singh • Accomplishments • RPM study and Profilometer measurements • Several failed structures! • Findings • System contrast / resolution is insufficient • Surface tension issue during spin coat

  8. Questions? Matt Shivani Adrian Joe Muskin
