GIS Strategic Planning Process • Leverage current 5 year plan • Hire a skilled and GIS knowledgeable facilitator • Emphasize stakeholder input via • Regional town hall meetings • Webinar for those that could not attend in person • Individual interviews with GIS “thought leaders” • Utilize online survey for validation and additional input • Review draft plan with external stakeholder team • Public comment period before finalization • Consideration by VGIN Board

  4. Hiring of a Facilitator • Utilized VITA’s IT Services contract to hire a facilitator • Received five proposals • Reviewed by a team from within VITA and by external agencies • Selected the firm Michael Baker

  5. Role of the VGIN Board • Act as Executive Steering Committee • Provide input and guidance • Review draft plan • Consider final plan for formal adoption at January 2015 Board meeting
