It does not rejoice in wrongdoing but rejoices in the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things endures all things.

  13. PENSION CHANGES 1/1/2014 Ministerial Pension Plan (MPP) • Participants who set up their MPP benefits on or after January 1, 2014, must convert exactly 65% of their account balance to an annuity. • The remaining 35% can be rolled over to the United Methodist Personal Investment Plan (UMPIP), an IRA or another qualified employer retirement plan, or paid in cash in one lump sum. • This strengthens the assurance that annual conferences can adequately fund these annuities.

  14. PENSION CHANGES 1/1/2014 Pre-82 Plan • No Past Service Rate may be decreased • Eliminates the requirement that the annual conference set the PSR to at least 0.8% of the Conference Average Compensation. • 2014 remains $502 (times years of service) • Conferences now required to fully fund the cost of any increase in PSR benefits before they take effect.

  17. PENSION CHANGES 1/1/2014 Clergy Retirement Security Program • Benefits • Surviving Spouse Benefits: Currently, married retirees receive benefits of greater value than unmarried retirees because the Church subsidizes benefit continuation to clergy surviving spouses.
