Textiles is the right course for you if • You enjoyed Textiles in Years 7, 8 and 9 • You like sewing and want to be able to create something others can’t • You are interested in fashion and would like to know more about the world of fashion • You like drawing and sketching • You would like to learn more about textile items you wear and use every day

  3. YEAR 10 Year 10 is spent developing practical skills through several Design and Make projects on accessories, fashion and soft furnishing as well as acquiring knowledge and understanding of Textiles theory through research and practical investigations

  4. YEAR 11 In year 11 students work on one major Design and Make project as their Controlled assessment task and preparing for the written exam at the end of the year. • Controlled assessment approx. 40 hours of lesson time - 60% of GCSE • Written exam – 2 hours 40% of GCSE

  5. FUTURE CAREERS AS and A2 level Textiles leading to placements in fashion college, University or on an Art Foundation Course. Possible careers: Fashion designer working freelance or for a fashion house Fashion/Retail buyer Textiles (fabric) Designer Pattern cutter Fibre technologist Fabric technologist Textiles colourist Cutting room manager Warehouse manager Production manager Fashion journalist Costume designer and so on.
