Very few builders still design the projects especially for the senior citizens with numerous amenities such as ramps, picnic switches, but these are very few and far aswell. It has been observed that the developers have miserably failed when they tried to come up with housing projects for the senior citizens. The major concern for the senior citizens is that they are not willing to go to a peripheral location due to social infrastructure and security reasons. The senior citizens, of course, don’t take such decisions on their own as they are financially dependent on their children who of course would not take any risk with their parent’s security and social lifestyle. Even the loans are not available for the seniorcitizens. On the other hand, there are some projects that are successfully pulled off for the senior citizens. Numerous projects in cities like Bangalore, Vadodara and Pune have paid off pretty well for the developers under the senior citizenprojects. The senior citizen housing are specialized products and these does not take a lot of time to construct but the developers need to understand the demand of the senior citizens and understand that the maximum demand is the mid-segment apartments which costs between Rs 30-50 lakhs.
