OBJECTIVES • Analysis and evaluation, at national level, of training curricula regarding OSH topics used in the Italian educational system • The creation of records pertaining to the curricular architectures assessed • Planning and realization of Credit Transfer Training Units (CTTUs) according to the provisions implementing the framework directive in the training areas taken into account by the research • Experimentation of curricular prototypes (modules) on target user groups and verification of the efficiency and effectiveness of the teaching-learning process

  10. SPECIFIC MODULE - Building - Electricity-electronics AREA - Mechanics 10 Teaching Units Active involvement of pupils through exercises and use of videos Simulation of actual working situations cases – pupils have been asked to adopt concrete risk prevention and protection measures

RESULTS • Good general level of learning (65% of pupils scored above-average results) • Final test results in keeping with the level of teaching given • Adequate methods and tools, getting pupils interested and involved • Production of supplementary training provisions not contemplated in standard curricula

THE SIMULATION GAME AIMS: The game invites players to test their knowledge about the topics studied during the training programme by making a series of simple choices, focusing on: 1 – The meaning of risk and danger 2 – The prevention and protection service 3 – Actors involved in the safety process 4 – Prevention and protection measures that can be adopted 5 – Managing emergencies 6 – Elements leading to sanctions

DURATION OF GAME:2 hours • HOW TO PLAY THE GAME: the teacher explains the rules of the game and gives each player: • a pack of 30 cards • each card gives a true or false statement, which the player must evaluate and place in the notebook from the most to the least urgent; 10 cards will be discarded from the pack as only 20 of the 30 proposed choices can be selected • there follows group discussions, during which each player can discuss with others, and is allowed to change only one item of those indicated in his notebook • discussion involving the whole class and checking of results HOW TO PLAY THE GAME AIM: Each player must decide which statements are true and arrange them according to priority, from the most to the least urgent • SCORE: • 1 point for each reply that corresponds to one of the 20 true statements • 1 additional point for each answer in the correct order of priority

REASONS FOR THE PROJECT • The school must play a part in teaching about safety in the workplace as part of a more general aim of teaching citizens to appreciate health values • AIMS • To improve the health and safety of those working in schools (pursuant to Legislative Decree 626/94). • To promote the prevention culture among youngsters in order to teach citizens/workers to appreciate health values.

WORKING METHOD Based on active learning “DOING” RATHER THAN “LISTENING” this method entailed first the study of legislation and prevention methods, then the creation of a project pertaining to the school's area of specialisation, to be presented in public during the Week as proof of knowledge acquired.
