Rationale Cytotoxic chemotherapy acts mainly on proliferating cells; 2. Tumor cell growth kinetics of “gompertzian” type, i.e. the growth fraction diminishes as tumor dimensions increase; 3. The growth fraction of the micrometastatic cells is higher than that of larger tumor masses; 4. Micrometastatic tumor cells are highly sensitive to cytotoxic drugs
