  1. English II April 15th – 19th

  2. Do now…. • For class today you will need the following things: binder (with paper), adapted reader, independent reading book & folder, pen or pencil. • You have 2 minutes to gather these things!

  3. Daily Grammar Practice – Monday Notes • Write out the sentence and identify parts of speech (noun, verb, adjective, etc.) I must have drunk four cups of cocoa because i was frozen from skating on lake kenton

  4. Red Hot Root Words - Outside • Grab your new vocabulary worksheet from the front of the room – we’ll go over the words together, then do the back with a partner.

  5. Farewell to Manzanar • Guide to Annotation • CLOSE Reading ofFarewell to Manzanar Day #1 – Read over the article and make annotations (dialogue with the text)

  6. INDEPENDENT READING • Please get the book that you selected for independent reading and read SILENTLY for the next 20 minutes. • When I tell you that time is up, please fill out your worksheet (a summary or your thoughts on what you read – at least 5 sentences NOT copied from the book) and put it in your IR folder.

  7. Ticket Out • Please write one post it for learned and one for confused & place it on our parking lot on your way out the door. • REMEMBER – “nothing” is not an acceptable answer!

  8. Daily Grammar Practice – Tuesday Notes • Write out the sentence and identify its parts: subject (2), verb(2), direct object(1), prepositional phrase(3), object of the preposition(3) i must have drunk four cups of cocoa because i was frozen from skating on lake kenton

  9. Vocabulary - Flashcards • For each vocabulary word you will make one flashcard. It should look like this: expulsion a forcing out The businessman took money from his company, causing his expulsion from the office.

Farewell to Manzanar– Say Something! • With your partner, decide who will say something first. • When you say something, do one or more of the following: Identify an unfamiliar word Make a prediction Ask a question Make a connection Make a comment • If you cannot do one of the above, you need to re-read. • The other person responds to what was said.
