Police prosecutor competent. • Summary punishment cases: Minor breaches of military or civilian penal code. Military commander competent. JA gives advice.
Courts • All penal cases go before ordinary civilian courts. • Provision for military lay judges in wartime.
Judge Advocates • Judge Advocate General • 2 Judge Advocates + 1 ass JA for Northern Norway • 2 Judge Advocates + 1 ass JA for Southern Norway 2 Administrative staff + temporary assistants, interns etc.
Functions of JA • Give advice on request on summary punishments • Give mandatory advice in appeals of summary punishments • Routine control of summary punishments that have been awarded • Advice commanders and MP investigators in potential criminal cases • Decide prosecution in military penal cases • Prosecute military penal cases before the court.
