PRECIOUS RELATIONSHIP (PART 3) Memory Verse: 1 Thessalonians 5:21 “Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.” BIBLE PASSAGE:1 Thessalonians 5:15-24 INTRODUCTION: This study intends to focus on some aspects of the family life that are very essential for steady spiritual growth expected of Christian homes. May the Holy Spirit teach and bless us as we study, in Jesus’ name.

  6. Outline 1: • FAMILY WORSHIP • Worship simply means reverence and respect given to God – Psalm 95:6. God commands and deserves our worship – 1 Chronicles 16:29, Psalm 150:6. Consider who God is truly: • El-Shaddai – Genesis 17:1. • Love – 1 John 4:8. • Strength of Israel – 1 Samuel 15:29, • The true Christian home is special before God – 1 Peter 2:9. Every member of the family should worship God - Psalm 150:6. PRECIOUS RELATIONSHIP (PART 3)

  7. PRECIOUS RELATIONSHIP (PART 3) • Outline 1: • FAMILY WORSHIP • The family that prays together stays together and experiences constant assurance of divine presence – Psalm 22:3. With worship, darkness recedes from the home – 1 John 1:5. • Let us consider a few examples of family worship: Cornelius – Acts 10:1-2, Joshua 24:15; Louis/Eunice – 2 Timothy 1:5 .

  8. Outline 2: • FAMILY DISCIPLINE • Ideally, the Christian family should be potential soldiers/tools of Christ ever ready to launch deep into the enemy’s camp. Therefore, there is the need to be on guard daily. Do not get entangled with the affairs of the world. Affairs of this world are devil incarnates - 2 Timothy 2:4, 1 John 2:15-17. Tame your appetite, otherwise, you will suddenly become spiritually weak – 1 Corinthians 7:5, 29 - 31. It is better to teach by examples than by precepts – Colossians 4:5. Redeem the time. The days are evil. You will account for your slothful hours – Ephesians 5:15. The rod should be applied for correction and reproof especially in the lives of the children – Proverbs 14:24, Proverbs 22:15. PRECIOUS RELATIONSHIP (PART 3)

  9. PRECIOUS RELATIONSHIP (PART 3) • Outline 3: • FAMILY FINANCES • The Lord owns you, your family members and all that you possess – Psalm 24:1. Consider the example of the Corinthian church that gave to themselves and to God generously. That two shall become one involves your financial view points as well. Keep joint bank account – Amos 3:3. Submit your financial programmes to God – Psalm 37:5. Jesus must be centre of your family budgeting – 1 Corinthians 10:31. Order your priorities well with spiritual consideration on top of the list.

  10. PRECIOUS RELATIONSHIP (PART 3) • Outline 3: • FAMILY FINANCES • Support God’s work e.g. Aquila and Priscilla – Romans 16:3-4. Avoid being spendthrifts. You are accountable to God and anyone who does not provide for his home is worse than infidel. Note that the love of pleasure leads to • Poverty – Proverbs 21:17. • Spiritual death – 1 Timothy 3:6. • Unpreparedness – Luke 21:34.
