  6. Students’ Responsibilities • Check Rediker & Teacher Web • Bring questions and concerns to the attention of the teacher • Record assignments and tests in the Nativity Student Planner • Make-up work after absences according to Family Handbook • Locker Organization and Cleanliness • Name Tags

PROCEDURES FOR LATE WORK – Essays, Research Papers, Projects, Labs 6th Grade Students: • Allowed three grace days (nightly homework not included) • The highest possible grade awarded on the first grace day will be 90%, second day will be 80%, third day will be 70%. 7th Grade Students: • Allowed two grace days (nightly homework not included) • The highest possible grade awarded on the first grace day will be 90%, second day will be 80%. 8th Grade Students: • Allowed one grace day (nightly homework not included) • The highest possible grade awarded will be 90%.

  8. Parents’ Responsibilities • Work with your son and/or daughter to check Redikerat least on a weekly basis. • Bring questions and concerns to the attention of the teacher via email. All email addresses are @nativitycatholicschool.org • Periodic checking of Student Planner (Reward/Consequence) • Ask your child for any information that has been distributed in class.

Teachers’ Responsibilities • Teach a comprehensive curriculum that prepares your child for high school • Post grades in a timely manner • Communicate via e-mail as needed • Respond within one business day to your e-mail • Direct students to record work and events in Student Planners • Assign students to record absentee class work and homework

SOCIAL STUDIES • 6th grade - Ancient civilizations and geography • 7th grade - Civics, economics, N.A. geography • 8th grade - U.S. History through the Reconstruction • Spiral Notebook This is intended to be interactive More of a scrapbook with notes • 6th graders will be going on virtual trips with their Passports • 8th grade field trip!

SCIENCE 6th Grade : • Follows the new Sunshine State Science Standards-6th grade • Curriculum is lab-centered with emphasis on the scientific process. 7th Grade: • Follows the new Sunshine State Science Standards • Curriculum is lab-centered with emphasis on the scientific process. • Science fair is required for all 7th grade students.

  12. 8th Grade Introduction to Physical Science: • N & C groups will follow the Hillsborough County IPS • Honors curriculum. Upon successful completion high school credit is earned • S group will cover 8th grade science in preparation for • high school • Covers chemistry and physics. • Curriculum is lab-centered with an emphasis on the • scientific process. • Science fair is optional for 8th grade.

  16. SPANISH 6th & 7th Grade: • Schedule: 3 days a week • Daily Homework: Review Notes / Content • Textbook continues in 7th 8th Grade: Spanish I • Schedule: 5 days a week • Cumulative Exam – End of the Year • Daily Homework: Review Notes / Content Goal: 90% in Target Language!

Math 7th Grade • Blue and White Groups • Pre- Algebra • Simple Solutions 8th Grade • Groups N and C - Algebra I • Group S - RampOn to Algebra – preparation for Algebra in high school • Simple Solutions • Private high schools require successful completion of the course demonstrated by a test each one administers. • Hillsborough County high schools require a passing score on the EOC. • Homework Policy (7th & 8Th): • Every assignment is worth 2 points. Homework will be posted weekly.

  20. Grading Scale and Weight • A: 90%-100% • B: 80%-89% • C: 70%-79% • D: 60%-69% • F: 50%-59% • Classwork, homework, take-home projects, etc. will count for 20% and assessments will count for 80% of final grade

  21. 7th & 8th GRADE DANCES Dates: Sept. 13th, Jan. 10th, May 9th Friday nights from 7:00 to 9:00 PM in the Social Hall! Permission slip and money due at the door. Need 10-12 Chaperones! Please sign up after the meeting!

  22. HEAD CHAPERONE NEEDED! • Resposibilities: • Arrange for at least 10 chaperones for each dance. • Email names of parents chaperone to Mrs. Dunnigan • to check for SET training. • Purchase drinks and snacks for the dance. • Mrs. Alonso will provide funds for this. • Help set up and clean up. • Make sure the chaperones are strategically placed • during the dance…i.e. by the bathrooms, doors, • dance floor.
