  2. Background • The Open University of Israel was founded in 1974. • Largest University in Israel (45K students). The only open university in Israel. • Shoham Center for Technology in Distance Education, founded at OUI in 1995.

The need for a tailored Moodle solution • Our LMS is a critical system with unique requirements • The method of learning is based on self-study from textbooks written by scholars in Israel and facilitated online • Teachers have very specific needs • The “old” system was developed in house • We want to learnfrom the old system’s best practices

  4. What “tailored” means for us • We take nothing for granted • We learn our business needs • We check how it works in Moodle • We make changes accordingly
