  2. The Present tense of Reflexive Verbs • To make the forms of a reflexive verb, use the reflexive pronoun that refers to the subject of the verb. The verb follows the patterns already familiar to you.

  3. The reflexive pronoun changes with the subject, even when you use the infinitive form of a reflexive verb! • Example: Je vais ME promener.

  4. English Equivalent • The reflexive pronoun SOMETIMES have an English equivalent, such as myself, yourself, herself, etc. • Je m’habille. I dress (myself) • Tute laves. You wash (yourself)

  5. However, often there is no English equivalent. • Ilss’amusent. They’re having fun • Ilssebaignent. They are swimming

  6. Negative • To make a reflexive verb negative, put ne…pas around the reflexive pronoun AND the verb • Ex. Je ne me lèvepas a 6h.

  7. Se Promener and Se Lever • The verbs se promener and se lever add an accent grave in some forms: • Je me promène/lève • Tutepromènes/lèves • Il se promène/lève • Ils/ elles se promènent/lèvent • Nous and vousdo not have an accent. • Nous nous promenons/levons • Vousvouspromenez/levez
