  1. Coursework Evaluation LO: know how to write effective evaluation on coursework

What to include (350-750 words) • Summary of the institution who would make this text, target audience, and how the product targets them • Brief description of any research and planning • How codes and conventions have been used to communicate representations and how meaning is made • Evaluation of successes of decisions and revisions made in design process • Evaluation of strengths and weaknesses within finished production

  3. 1. Institution and audience • What type of institution would advertise your advert? E.g. is it a big fashion magazine like Vogue or more like a weekly Chat magazine or teen? Look at some examples and upload some images of the titles. • Who is your target audience (age, gender)? How does your advert target them (e.g. image – size, action, costume etc and slogan – what language is used?)

  4. 2. Research and planning • What research did you carry out into fashion? E.g. what did you find out about what makes up a fashion advert • How did you decide on the advert (product, model and characters in your film? How did you decide on the actors and setting? • How did you plan your first draft?

Codes and conventions • What are the codes and conventions (rules) of • Fashion adverts • How are the characters and mise en scene presented? • How is this shown through facial expression, body language, clothing, hair, make up etc • What do you want to say about your product in the advert?

  6. 4. Discussion of changes you made during design process • What program did you use to design your fashion advert? • What changes did you make during your design process e.g. change image, change wording, layout etc • Why did you make these changes?

  7. 5. Evaluation of finished product • What are the strengths of your finished product? E.g. what makes it look like fashion advert? • What improvements could be made to your advert? E.g. could you make it look more explicitly like a fashion advert? Could you make the product/brand you’re selling more obvious?
