  3. Scavenger Hunt Answers Symbol: Alder Branch (Growth of future generations through wisdom / life experience) Personification: • “The Branch has two arms” • “Fine water that’s never heard of pollution” • “Water beneath the earth refused to sing” • “The branch is squirming”

  4. Simile: • “The alder was wriggling like a small, frightened snake” • “I hear something that sounds like a river” Metaphor: • “One fork of the Y, which was thinner than a pencil” Hyperbole: • “There is enough water to get your whole flock drunk and drown your specialists”

  5. Theme: • “Older generations have knowledge to pass to the newer generations, but useless if not used because it will be lost.” • “Formal education is important, but so are lessons / knowledge we gain from the wisdoms of others.”
