  2. Main Points of the 1760’s • 1754: French and Indian War • 1760: George III crowned King of England • 1763: Royal Proclamation of 1763 • 1765: Stamp Act • 1766: The Quartering Act and Repeal of the Stamp Act • 1767: Townshend Acts

  3. Main Points of the 1770-1775 • 1770: The Boston Massacre • 1772: Committees of Correspondence • 1773: Boston Tea Party and the British Blockade • 1774: First Continental Congress and The Intolerable Acts • 1775: Second Continental Congress, The Shot Heard Round the World, and Fort Ticonderoga, Breed’s Hill and Bunker Hill battles

  4. Main Points of 1776-1783 • 1776: Declaration of Independence, New York City captured • 1777: Saratoga and Valley Forge • 1781: Articles of the Confederation and Yorktown • 1783: Treaty of Paris and War for Independence ends

  5. Main Points of 1787- 1791 • 1787: Northwest Ordinance and Constitution • 1788: Ratification • 1789: George Washington is elected the first president • 1791: Bill of Rights

  6. Instructions for Group Work • Get into a group of three or four students and create a timeline with all of these MAJOR events of the Revolutionary War • (Optional) Draw pictures to portray the events that are explained in the Time Line • You have 30 minutes to do this part of the assignment. • If you include all of the information and are as neat as possible you will get an A, yet if you incorporate pictures you will receive an A+.

  7. Individual Work • Go through the slide show and chose one of the main points. Every point that is underlined has a website attached to it where you will obtain information to make a report on the topic. • You will present this report to the class on the specified topic.

  8. Individual Work Continued • This portion of your work is separately graded. If you contain important information and are able to write a one-page paper about it you will receive an A. Including pictures and props will get you an A+. • You will get the rest of the class period to work on this and also tonight. You will present this tomorrow in class.
