Maine hospitals become preferred one of two ways • Obtain a minimum score of 70 from the State Employee Health Commission • Effective Care: Provides the care that experts recommend • Patient Safety: Has systems to prevent medical errors • Patient Experience: What patients say about the hospital • Comparative cost OR • Enter into an agreement with the State of Maine to lower costs and promote quality care.
