Decline of Christianity in Canada: Insights from the 2011 Census and Its Implications

Canada has seen a significant demographic change in religious affiliation over the past 80 years. From 2001 to 2011, the Christian population dropped from approximately 23 million to 67% of the total population. At the same time, those with no religious affiliation grew to 24%, and other religions increased to 9%. This pattern indicates a shift away from Christianity toward secularism. As congregations shrink, churches face critical decisions regarding renewal and planting initiatives to engage younger generations and reverse this trend.
