  1. 2013 CIS Member Survey 2013 Planning Meeting Discussion

  2. MembershipStatus

  3. How many CIS meetings did you attend this year (September 2012 through May 2013)?

  4. If less than 3 meetings, why?

  5. What aspects of CIS Do you like Most? Most Common Themes: • Networking • Collaboration among university and business community • Supporting students via multiple interactions: informal mentoring, internships and scholarships • Student presentations • Learning and understanding industry trends • Ability to influence the CIS curriculum

  6. What do you like Least? Common Themes: • Lack of consistent faculty & PhD participation • The long drive & cramped meeting space (old comment) • The delay in change to the curriculum after CIS recommendations • Reporting on stats (e.g. survey results) and not enough time spent on identifying solutions Additional Comment: • Unsure of the purpose of CIS, and therefore unsure which programs to recommend for the group, along with confusion on who the target members should be

  7. Whatactivities should be added? • More interaction with students and student organizations • More ways to introduce students to IT and what KSU has to offer in this field. • Explore the world of Big Data, Analytics and Data Scientist • College of Business Co-op program for the final year or two for CIS majors. • Student curriculum discussions: programming classes focused on more useful business use. Such as C# or C++, NOTVB.

  8. Whatactivities should be added? • The internship panel was great. • Student Interns reporting their experience at member companies  • On-line teaching/course. • Presentation by a female CIO on leadership • Discussions on trends and how to deal with them. From a people, environment, economic, societal, and cultural perspective.  • How best to recruit students.

  9. Whatactivities should be added? • Discussion of new technology used in business. • Interviewing tips and what companies are looking for during interviews.

  10. What should be dropped? • The IT Expo could use some work.Maybe drop it. • I think student presentations should only be from the software integration class.

  11. What should we change? • Tactfully cut off those who talk too much (or too long). • We should keep a pulse on the new technologies and trends. • Present a topic and then go around the room asking who does what for that particular topic.

  12. Which topics should be discussed at CIS meetings next year?

  13. In which of the following activities would your company be willing to participate?

  14. Do you feel CIS provides valuable information to you and therefore your organization?

  15. May we please solicit you and/or your company for funds to support this cause?

  16. additional feedback. • Why not get the newspaper (s) involved for more marketing and PR for the college and Center. • Have new Dean speak on the importance of external relations and how CIS contributes to college strategic planning. • This is one of the best organizations I have seen. Very strong passion of all the members.
