  1. PYP Member SurveyJanuary 2013 What we learned from our members

  2. Interesting tidbits about PYP: • A large majority (70%) of our member-ship is between the ages of 26 and 35. • Close to 19% are between 21 and 25 • About 11% are 36 to 40 • About 45% of our members live in the City of Pensacola, with another 45% living in (non-City) Escambia County, and almost 10% living in Santa Rosa County; however, nearly 70% of our members work in the City of Pensacola. • Just over 43% of our members are homeowners. • Every PYP member who responded to the survey is a registered voter!

  3. When asked if they preferred lunch-time meetings or after-work meetings, PYP members expressed a strong preference for after-work meetings (25% voted for lunch-time, 75% voted for after-work). When asked which PYP events they were most eager to attend, the top six choices according to our members were as follows: Annual dinner Quarterly meetings Monthly team meetings Volunteer opportunities Networking nights Political forums

  4. According to the survey, the preferred method of communication between PYP and its members is through e-mail. PYP sends out its weekly e-mail blast every Monday. If you are not already on our mailing list, sign-up here. • 1st Monday of each month, we send our “Highlights” newsletter, offering plenty of info and details about PYP. • Every other Monday, our e-mails are short and provide reminders about upcoming meetings and sharing new/urgent updates.

  5. Tied for second-most-preferred avenue of communication were Facebook and text messaging. • PYP’s Facebook page can be found here. • Please “like” the page! We will be updating our FB page frequently now, and all events posted on our PYP website will also be on our FB page. • Did you know? PYP does have a text messaging service! • This is a great way for PYP to send out reminders when we have special events coming up. • Sign up for the service by texting “PensacolaYP” to 69302.

  6. Using a scale of 1 to 4, with 1 being “unhappy” and 4 being “very happy,” PYP asked its members how satisfied they were with our organization. • Our average rating was a 3.2, a great score! • What do members like most about PYP? • PYP’s energy and optimism • Chances to volunteer and help our community • Ability to influence government and affect positive change • Opportunities to develop professionally and take on leadership roles • But the number one cited answer was…our members! • We have a diverse, enthusiastic group of people within PYP.

  7. We also asked members what they dislike most about PYP. • Most frequent criticisms: * appearance of “cliquishness” • * perceptions as a “social” or “drinking” group • * lack of consistency in our calendar and communication • Therefore, in 2013, PYP’s leaders are determined to: • Be more open, friendly, and accessible to all members, both new and old • Revamp our monthly “Pub Club” and develop it as “Networking Night” • featuring more “icebreakers” and fun networking games • taking place outside of pubs and bars; local businesses will host instead, providing a professional environment while showcasing some great local companies • Use a “Calendar Committee” to implement a long-range plan for organizing and promoting PYP events

  8. I want to know what is going on in PYP! Step 1: Bookmark our calendar on the PYP website. This calendar is now the authoritative source for what is happening within the organization! We pledge to keep it current and relevant. Step 2: “Like” our Facebook page. Visit it regularly (or make sure it appears in your news feed) to see pictures, updates, and event notifications. Step 3: Sign up for the PYP text messaging service by texting “PensacolaYP” to 69302. We will use this service sparingly, but you will get day-of reminder texts about major PYP events and volunteer opportunities. Step 4: Always check your Monday morning e-mail from PYP. This e-mail will tell you what is coming up for the week ahead, and let you know other pertinent PYP news.

  9. A few things that we already offer, but that you might not know about… • PYP member database? We have that! • Sign in to the PYP website (using your e-mail address and password), and visit our Member Directory page to see an alphabetical list of all current PYP members. • You can see another member’s contact info (phone number and e-mail address) and their place of business. • We plan on expanding this database even more, so that members can search other members by job industry and so forth.

  10. More“value-added” benefits for PYP members! • Our member benefits card offers PYP members special deals at various local businesses. You can see our current benefits list here, and we will keep adding to it! • (Don’t yet have your MBC? Pick it up at the next Networking Night or Quarterly Meeting.) • Our educational seminars are FREE to our members. Topics include: • Personal finance and investing • How to run for political office • How to start your own business • All seminars will be promoted to members via the PYP website calendar and our Facebook page. These members-only seminars are meant to help you grow and flourish as a young professional! • Buying a home • Public speaking • And much more!

  11. Thank you to our members for the great feedback! PYP is truly committed to serving its members, and we welcome your questions, comments, and concerns anytime. Feel free to e-mail PYP’s director Rachael Gillette (rachael@pensacolayp.com) or any of our board members (listed here).
