  2. Where did we get these data? • Asked Directors to supply actual enrollment information in Sept-Oct ’06 • 624 camp directors completed the Fall ‘06 survey (136 RAC) • Analyzed by total group as well as for differences based on camp type, affiliation, and geographic area

  3. Profiles of Camps in Survey • Camp Affiliation • 29% agency and governmental camps • 29% independent not for profit • 20% independent for profit • 22% religiously-affiliated • Type of camp: • 76% resident camps • 24% day camps

  19. Differences by Sponsorship • Religiously affiliated camps experienced consistent decreases: • Total Enrollment • Boys • Girls • 10-12 year old campers • Teen campers • Over 56% of RAC camps said summer ’06 was the worst or among the worst in the past 5 years

Sponsorship Differences- con’t • Religiously-affiliated camps had the lowest capacity rates (40% <80%) • Religiously-affiliated camps had the lowest performance on meeting targeted capacity rates (80-89%) • Popular session lengths varied by affiliation • Ex.=Religious-affiliated favored one week sessions while IFP camps like longer sessions (4+ weeks).
