  1. Borderless Mexico Mission Trip

  2. Who is Borderless Midwest? In 2012 four Lutheran Brethren churches from the Midwest and in 2013 5 churches partnered for the with a group of ten Lutheran Brethren churches from the Seattle area who have been serving every spring in Mexico for 20 years. Our intent is to return every spring and we are currently filling a preliminary team of 30 students and 10 adults. Our mission is to serve in Jesus name while emphasizing humility, servant leadership, and serving with a learners attitude with a hope to build as strong a partnership as we can with Pastor Mario and his church in Silva.

  3. Frequent Questions Q: Is it safe in Silva? A: We have two border towns to cross through and they rank in the top 3 of all border crossings into Mexico for safety. In the last 20 years there have been no concerning incidents by any of the churches in our partnership. Our host pastor is a dual citizen so he understands our concerns and would not welcome us in any uneasy circumstances Q: Why in the Spring? A: In the summer temps reach as high as 115 degrees and the week leading up to Easter Sunday is a week the kids get off from school freeing us up to serve there Q: Is this an official CLB project? A: No but almost all of the participating churches are. The churches we partner with in Mexico are a part of a small network of evangelical churches in Mexico

  4. What could I do to serve there? Serve as a chaperone Serve as a translator Lead a women’s small group Be a part of a construction team Lead worship Lead or assist in VBS ministry to kids Serve as a nurse

  5. A bus? • A bus affords several perks that flying does not • Christian Company with believing drivers • Transportation costs for adults absorbed by students • Much more storage • Allows for team building and ministry prep along the way • Costs for transportation are significantly lower than flying and renting vans • Bus stays with us everywhere we go • Bathrooms and meals offered while we travel

  6. Schedule · Depart from LeSueur MN on April 10th via charter bus · Arrive in Mexico the evening of April 11th · April 12th—Visit local market and set up at ministry site · April 13th—Worship in Silva / Begin VBS · April 14-16—Full day of ministry in Silva · April 17th—VBS in AM / Cross back into the USA · April 17th—Dinner / Showers in USA · April 18th—Drive home via charter bus

  7. Costs • Fees for Students • Option 1 -  If 28 students $680 • Option 2 – If 26 students $710 • Option 3 – If 24 students $740 • Option 4 – If 22 students $780 • Fees for Adults • $160 per adult if 26 students • Additional costs for each church • In addition, we will need some construction funds and we would ask that you choose one of the following… • 1. Build that on top of your student costs that budget • 2. Have a secondary source for those funds (WOL in LeSueur used its mission fund for those last year) • 3. In total, we would like to receive $400 per church/$40 per participant • Border Tax - Please also note, in the event that at the border a $25 surcharge per person was necessary for crossing the border, that cost would come out of student’s spending money.

  8. Training Weekend We want to prepare everyone as best as possible, offer participants a chance to meet each other in advance, learn songs and teaching themes so we require that all participants attend the training weekend February 16-17. The location will be determined based on convenience.
