  2. ABOUT DEHRADUN Dehradun is the capital city of the Indian State of Uttarakhand. Located in the Doon Valley at the foothills of the Himalayas,Dehradun is bordered by the Ganges and Yamuna rivers of India. The city is known for its pleasant climate and provides a gateway to popular hill stations like Nainital,Mussoorrie and pilgrim places like Haridwar,Rishikesh Being a part of princely Garhwal State the local customs of the Garhwali people have influenced the culture in the city.

  3. SAHASTRADHARA The name Sahastradhara literally means”The Thousand Fold Spring” is a popular tourist destination in Dehradun. It comprised of waterfalls,caves and steppe farming lands and provides a totally marvelousand rejuvenating experience to its visitors. The name is due to the water that drips from the limestone stalactites in the caves and its waterfall.

FOREST RESEARCH INSTITUTE • The Forest Research Institute was established in 1906 as the British Imperial Forestry Service. • The site also contains a museum for forestry with six main sections that are Pathology Museum,Social Forestry Museum,SilvicultureMuseum,TimberMuseum,Non-Wood Forest Products Museum and Entomology Museum.

  5. DEHRADUN ZOO Dehradun Zoo also known as Malsi Deer Park is a perfect place to spot deer in its natural habitat. Zoo also comprises of other birds and animals enclosed in cages. It is located on the way to Mussoorrie.

ROBBER’S CAVE • Also known as Gucchupani is a 600m long river cave. • The cave is divided into two main parts with its highest fall being 10m long. • The place is known for its unique natural phenomenon known as the disappearing stream. • It is believed that the robbers used to hide during the British raj from where the place owes its name.

  7. TIGER FALLS Tiger Falls is a 50m high waterfall and is located at a height of 1400m above sea level. The waterfall is situated at a amidst of dense forests at the foothills of the Himalayas. The water converges into a small pond which provides a perfect setting for an outing with friends and family.
