  2. RULES TO FOLLOW • Please dress appropriately—no shorts, holter tops or shirts/blouses with inappropriate sayings when you are working. You should have a neat & clean appearance. Remember you are representing the college. • No eating in the lab! If you need to eat you should go into the hallway and use the table.

  3. RULES TO FOLLOW CONTINUED • No playing games on the computers. The students see everything you do and have reported tutors for games in the past. No head phones or ear buds. • You can complete your class/homework as long as you are frequently checking the room for students needing assistance. • Use the netop program only when you suspect someone of misuse of computer.

  4. TUTOR DUTIES IN ROOM 504/507 • Assist students with programs on the computers, if you don’t know answer, refer to instructor in Rm 507 or student’s instructor. • Assist student with printing documents. • Refer students from other areas (ie. English, Math etc.) to library for printing. • Let instructors/instructional assistant know if any problems arise in the labs. • Report any equipment malfunctions. • Observe students for misuse of computers.

TUTOR DUTIES IN ROOM 502 • Check with your Instructor in the class to see what she/he wants you to do. • During lab time check with Pat. • Answer Assistance Signs promptly. • Circulate around the room, observing students for any assistance or technique instructions. Notify Instructor if student has technique problems, i.e. watching screen, hands, etc. • Do Not make announcements to the class unless asked to do so. • DO NOT GIVE ADVICE to students on class selections or their progress; refer them to instructor or instructional assistant.

  6. Avoid visiting with other tutors/ students/instructional assistant. Try to keep a businesslike atmosphere when tutoring. When helping students, think about what you are saying to them. Any issues with students, instructors, others, let me know. Sit at tutor’s desk at end of third row when not with students. Do not complete your homework, personal work, or read your books when you are tutoring. If asked a question and you do not know the answer, say so and find out the answer, and get back to the student. Get to know the students and any problem areas they may have.   7. TUTOR DUTIES IN ROOM 502 • Ask students how they are doing. • Have patience—students frequently ask the same questions, and some students ask the same questions several times.

  8. Each class has forms to be filled out, if you are not sure which forms to give to the students, ask Pat. Instructor will decide where he/she wants students to be seated. When coming to class for the first time have students in OT 054 sit in the first 4 rows and other students sit toward the back rows. Make sure the student is registered for the class, if not have them see Pat. FIRST DAYS OF CLASSES

  9. TESTS • Tutors do not give out tests. Test area is located at right side of room and is for all written tests. • Tutors may help clarify questions if a student is not sure what is being asked. DO NOT give the answer. • Students may not use any materials or books during testing unless instructor okays. • Production tests are done at student’s desk. Encourage student to use testing sign.

  10. EQUIPMENT • Know how to use all the equipment—computers, monitor, printers • Ask Pat if you need instructions on equipment use. • Lookout for missing/broken equipment and report to Pat.

  11. ATTENDANCE • Please be on time for your hour—previous tutor needs time to get to his/her next class. • Call/Email if you are going to be absent/late.   12. VERY IMPORTANT YOU MUST LOG IN AND OUT ON ATTENDANCE COMPUTER WHEN WORKING—AFFECTS YOUR GETTING PAID

  13. EXTRA INFORMATION • Make sure you total and sign your timesheets on the 10th of each month. Fill them out each day you work. Timesheets are kept in Room 502 tutor drawer. • You are responsible for your timesheets—don’t expect me to remember what hours you worked on what day. I check the timesheets on the tenth of each month according to the schedule I gave you. I will change your timesheet hours if they do not match your schedule & email you. • Just like the students, do not answer or text on your cell phone in the classroom. We are here to set a good example for the students. • Filling out forms, payday, and any questions will be discussed after this presentation.
