This lesson focuses on the concept of congruence in right triangles, specifically using the Hypotenuse-Leg (HL) Theorem. Students will review important definitions, such as identifying hypotenuses and legs in right triangles. The session includes practice problems, a quiz on section 4-6, and preparation for the upcoming test. Students are encouraged to check answers with Coach Combs or Mr. Heyboer for accuracy. Mastery of these concepts is essential for solving problems involving triangle similarities and congruences.

Bellringer • Have notes and HW (ASA/AAS) worksheet out • Work on p. 243 #6 – 11
Section 4-6 Congruence in Right Triangles SPI 3108.4.11 Use basic theorems about similar and congruent triangles to solve problems
Right Triangle Definitions • The side opposite of the right angle is the hypotenuse • The two sides that include the right angle are the legs
Hypotenuse-Leg (HL) Theorem • The only time where SSA works • Just like the rest, we need 3 things: • Both are right triangles • Hypotenuses are Congruent • One pair of Legs are Congruent
Types of Problems • Are the triangles congruent by HL Theorem? • What other piece of information do we need to prove the triangles congruent by HL?
Classwork/Homework • P. 261 #1 – 4 *Check with Coach Combs or Mr. Heyboer for correctness before receiving…* • Triangle Congruence Review Packet • Quiz tomorrow • Test on Tuesday
