Room 16 YEAR OF 4TH GRADE
Science • Then we moved on through the year into science. We learned about many things. We first learned about electricity and how it works. We learned about electric converters and circuits. Then we moved into rocks and calcite and the world. We have been studying recently about rain forests. And the animals and natural causes.
Math • During this fourth grade year we have learned many math ways to get your answer. First we started out easy with Multiplication. Then we did harder and harder ones during the year. Then we worked on are dividing. It took time for everyone to learn and practice. Now what I think is easy, was actually hard at first. Through the year we got more advanced! Its all thanks to Mrs. Nam!
English Language Arts For English language arts we have been reading with the class and answering questions about what we read. For example in the beginning of the school year we read a simple book called Stone Fox. After that we read a book called the Island of the blue dolphins which was a harder level, and now we are reading a book called the Great Horn Spoon.
Field trips • We recently went on a field trip to the Audubon. We got to experience nature and taking a hike around. Before that field trip we went to the White house and learn about things like the legislative branch. Way in the beginning of the year we went to the Nutcracker show! That was a great experience.
Fun • For fun at school we would earn Friday fun minutes to play games on Friday. We got to play many things if we earned minutes. For more fun we would do something to get are minds awake and moving, called Boot Camp Break. That’s where we would do exercising activities. Also after lunch we SSR (read) and I really enjoy that!
Tests • During the year we would take tests too check how good we understand certain subjects. In the middle of the year we took the Writing test. At the end of the year we took a test called the Star Test. It has everything you have learned all year. It is just to see what you need to review.
Parties • For parties we usually have it in are classroom on the day the holiday is. One example is that on Halloween we dress up and have a parade! For other holidays we celebrate the theme. We also have parties for Christmas every year, but not on the day Christmas is. Holidays and parties are fun to celebrate!
