  3. Chinese Books – UA Process • Selects books to be cataloged from the Chinese Collection backlog • Scan bibliographic information: title page, verso with form attached • Send file to OCLC

  4. Chinese Books – OCLC Process • Catalog titles in file of scanned pages • Return file of cataloged records to UA

  5. Chinese Books – UA Process • Receive file from OCLC and load records into catalog within 24 hours • Conduct quality check and make corrections • Prepare books for physical processing (relabel with new call number • Send books to be shelved • Quarterly, collect and analyze data on quality

  6. Middle Eastern Books – OCLC Process • Libraries send books to OCLC that need to be cataloged • OCLC photocopies bibliographic information • Send printed copies, with special instructions, to UA

Middle Eastern Books – UA Process • Receive printouts from OCLC • Search OCLC using uniquely assigned ID and password • Enhance record, or create original, and save in online file • Create Excel file of save numbers and comments • Send Excel file to OCLC and notify them that the shipment is complete

  8. Middle Eastern Books – OCLC Process • Receive Excel file of save numbers and comments • Perform quality check • Report back to UA for any corrections
