  1. TEAMWORK IS A GOOD THING • This year, the BCC Electrical Department and Eckcraft Metal Arts have teamed-up with Orange County Choppers, the stars of Discovery Channel’s blockbuster television show, American Chopper the Series. • We are thrilled at the opportunity to work with Orange County Choppers on what is sure to be an exciting time to be enrolled at BCC. • Run by the father-and-son team of Paul Teutul Sr. and Paul Teutul Jr., Orange County Choppers makes theme and custom-made choppers, such as the Lance Armstrong Bike, POW bike, Jet Bike, Comanche, Black Widow, Firebike, Liberty Bike, I-Robot Bike, and many more. The OCC facilities are located in Montgomery, NY.

  2. Eckcraft Metal Arts • At the end of last semester, BCC Electrical Dept. was approached by Eckcraft to collaborate on a project for a motorcycle tail light for the Speed Channel and a commemorative motorcycle for Dale Earnhardt.

  3. Friday’s Meeting On Thursday, Bob Eck called us and said he had to go down to OCC on Fri and asked us to go with him. We had three goals for the visit. • Deliver primary cover • Deliver F22 prototype • Discuss lighting projects

  4. Our Arrival • When we arrived, they whisked us down a long hall with offices on either side. On the way down the hall we saw and heard many of the personalities from the show. • When we got into the shop, we could see they were filming for an episode of the American Chopper show. They miked up Bob Eck and he did a walk on on the show to deliver the primary cover Eckcraft just finished manufacturing.

  5. Bob Eck delivers another part to OCC Mike Campo sees how it will look on the bike once it’s assembled.

  6. Another bike on the set Could this be the F-22 bike?

  7. Liberty Bike This AWESOME bike has to be seen in person to be appreciated.

  8. The Lincoln Bike This bike was built by OCC for Lincoln to introduce the all-new 2006 Lincoln Mark LT luxury truck.

  9. OCC was commissioned to build three of these bikes for Lincoln. This was one under construction.

  10. Look at the details on the engine.

  11. The Solidworks Bike This was the first bike Mike Campo got to build on his own.

  12. Mike Campo Mike is building a huge aluminum dagger that will be the sign for the new shop. It will look like it’s sticking out of the side of the building.

  13. Camera When they broke for lunch, everyone scrambled. It was fun seeing all the guys punch out at the time clock. I was going to do some extra filming for the show, but I figured they would just edit it out.

  14. We got to hang out with Mikey

  15. The Set of “AMERICAN CHOPPER”

  16. The meeting with Ron Ron is the buyer for OCC. Eckcraft deals directly with him on projects. After lunch we got to pitch some concepts to Ron.

  17. Our Pitch • We demonstrated a lot of different concepts for tail lights and LED lighting • Colored LED’s • Different lens configurations • Edge lighting • Ideas for the Caterpillar and Hooters bikes

  18. Planning the next project

  19. The Hooters Bike This is the early design stage for the Hooters Bike.

  20. The tail light This bike will not be using a separate tail light housing. The tail light will be incorporated into the rear fender. We are trying to convince Ron that they need BCC to build them a custom circuit board for this light.

  21. LED Project • Overall, it was a good trip. We got to meet a bunch of the guys • and got to pitch some of our ideas. • The next trip to OCC should be to assemble the finished F-22 tail light. • Hopefully, we’ll also be able to get the OK to build the circuit board • for the Hooters tail light. • We have a shot at building the tail light for the Cat bike too. It depends • on what direction they decide to go with the design.
