  2. Current Psychiatry started at 1993 as 2 editions per year, followed by 3 editions: March, July , November Now four editions per year January, April, July , October.

Administration / Management structure • The journal has a permanent secretariat at the Institute of Psychiatry, Ain Shams University. • Journal has a full time secretary. • Has a “Chairman of the Board” • Has an “Honorary Editor” • Has an “Editor- in- Chief” • Has 2 Assistants to “Editor- in- Chief”

Format Mission of journal and audience • Audiences are psychiatrists and mental health professionals in Egypt and Middle East including all candidates for the degrees of diploma, masters and doctorate in Psychiatry. • Highlight scientific research in Egypt and the Middle East • Advances in mental health services in Egypt and the Middle East • Encourage articles regarding the implementations of ethical codes (e.g. Madrid Declaration) • Educational editorials are encouraged • Original articles and research

Cost / Financing Cost of the journals Journals are distributed for free in Egypt Financing From advertisements in the journal as well as financial support from the Institute of Psychiatry Sustainability Journal has been published regularly for the past 15 years Link with pharmaceutical industries They advertise their products within the journal, but have no influence and do not interfere with the content of the journal

Link with academic or professional society The journal is the official journal of the Institute of Psychiatry, Ain Shams University which is a WHO collaborating center for training and research in mental health in the Eastern Mediterranean Region Conflicts of interest There are no conflicts of interest except that some of the assistant editors work with another journal for psychiatry in Egypt “Egyptian Journal of Psychiatry”. Ethical issues No problems

  13. Steps forward to improve indexation Trying to implement the plan of action mentioned in point 8 Printing the journal in a paperback form as well as an electronic form (CD).

Difficulties facing work in the journal • Problems in the submitted articles : -Lack of orientation of submitting authors about “research methodology” , “how to write a scientific paper?”….= high rejection rate ? -Neglecting important aspects like : originality , ethical considerations, scope of interest of the journal….= tedious work in revision of articles? -Language difficulties = language revision as an “overload” ?

  16. Difficulties facing work in the journal • Problems with “Reviewers” : -Few available “expert” reviewers ? -Too busy reviewers ? -Delay in reviewer’s response ? -Difficult communication with reviewers ? -How to encourage reviewers for appropriate response ?

  17. Difficulties facing work in the journal • Administrative, technical & financial difficulties : -Limited professional medical secretaries ? -Limited resources ? -Problems in archiving, typing , distribution , mailing….etc.

  18. Actions • Working with Academy of Scientific Research and Technology Building Egyptian National Scientific and Technical Information Network • Registered in Index Copernicus Journal Master List • Developed a temporary site for the journal www.cpsy.eg.net
