Review of the Film • Pushing Hands was Directed in 1992 • The film starts out in a suburban city in New York • Displays the clashing of cultures between the daughter in law, Martha Chu and Mr. Chu • During the course of the movie Mr. Chu is trying to find his culture, by engaging in activities during his journey. Biography • AngLee was born in 1954 in Taipei • He was one of the first Chinese-born directors to find critical and commercial success on both sides of the Pacific. • He graduated from the National Taiwan College of Arts in 1975 • He studied theater directing at the University of Illinois and film production at New York University. • In 1985 he win the awards for his student work By: Jacqueline Wang

Ang Lee Biography • while at N.Y.U., he also worked on Spike Lee's acclaimed student film, Joe's Bed-Stuy Barbershop: We Cut Heads, • Lee spent the next six years working on screenplays, • Eventually making his directorial debut in (1992) with Pushing Hands -The Wedding Banquet(1993) was Lee's next film - The third movie Eat Drink Man Woman (1994) received a Best Foreign Film Oscar nomination.   8.  Lee was also voted the year's Best Director by the National Board of Review and the New York Film Critics Circle. •  Lee's Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000) that is considered one of his greatest works, a sprawling period film and martial-arts epic that dealt with love, loyalty and loss.
