  6. Even though some people feel that Bill Engvall is just another comedian, there are several reasons why he is more than that. First is the fact that Engvall doesn’t use lots of foul language. Some comedians use foul language to shock their audience into laughter, but Engvall uses only an occasional “bad” word, and he still brings in a big audience when he performs. Additionally, Engvall shows us the humor of everyday situations to which we can all relate. One example of this is the way that he talks about buying smiling rocks at the fair or the idea that “stupid people” should wear signs to warn others. Bill also uses excellent impressions. When he talks about a dork fish, his voice and face changes so he looks and sounds like a dork fish. When he jokes about his dog, he sounds like one imagines the dog would sound.

Her mother was beheaded when she was 2 years old and Elizabeth was declared illegitimate by her father. She grew up in a castle but was mostly ignored and watched her half-brother die of illness and her half-sister beheaded. . During her reign Queen Elizabeth stopped the religious executions in England. She watched her sister, Queen Mary weaken England by executing powerful people, simply because they were Protestant instead of Catholic , so when Elizabeth became queen she refused to let religious persecution continue. Elizabeth never married during her 44 year reign. To many, her most important job was to marry and have a son. However, Elizabeth knew that if she gave in to all the pressure and married someone, he would become King and she would no longer be in charge, so she remained single.

  11. When you write, you will create a T-fold as part of Your PRE-WRITE ORGANIZATION. However, to help you to learn to write an organized paragraph, I want you to do things backwards first.

  12. The next slide contains a complete, expository paragraph. (3)First we will read it. (2)Then we will highlight it (together as a class) (1) Finally, each of you will create the t-fold . In other words, I want you to UNWRITE the following paragraph.

  13. Santa Clause may be a great guy, but he is not a good role model. To begin with, he doesn’t work very often. It is important to find a hard working role model so that I can learn to be a productive member of society. Santa only works one night of the year. It seems rather lazy to me, that he works one day and takes the next 364 days off. Additionally, Santa seems to be unable to keep up with technology. Instead of a truck or even a train, he is still driving a sleigh pulled by reindeer. If I am to succeed, I need a role model who is uses technology efficiently. Finally, there is the issue of Santa’s health problems. Obesity is a problem, so I need a role model who exercises and eats correctly. All I have ever heard of Santa eating is cookies and milk, and I cannot ignore his need to shed a few pounds. No one really wants a belly that shakes when one laughs “like a bowl full of jelly.”

Finally, there is the issue of Santa’s health problems. Obesity is a problem, so I need a role model who exercises and eats from all five food groups. All I have ever heard of Santa eating is cookies and milk, and I cannot ignore his need to shed a few pounds. No one really wants a belly that shakes when one laughs “like a bowl full of jelly.”

  16. Kinesthetic Version: INSERT THE NEXT TWO SCREENS PRIOR TO THE SANTA PARAGRAPH. Cut up the following statements and allow students to organize them correctly on a t-fold template (working in partners). Emphasize the difference between “ideas” in a t-fold and the sentences of a paragraph Pumpkin pie is the perfect survival food Squash is a vegetable Warm pie with whipped cream all food groups Crust has oil nutritious Eggs = protein Nutmeg Milk = diary Flaky crust Pumpkin custard Tastes great.

  17. Although many consider pumpkin pie a simple dessert, it is the perfect survival food. Pumpkin pie is loaded with vitamins and nutrition. It is made from a squash, a tremendously nutritious vegetable. Also, pumpkin pie contains the protein of eggs, the dairy of milk and the grain of the wheat flour crust. When one considers the oil in the crust, pumpkin pie contains all the food groups. Furthermore, pumpkin pie tastes good enough to eat day after day. Few items taste as good as a warm pumpkin pie, with a dollop of whipped cream. Pumpkin pie is the perfect combination of a flaky crust, sweet nutmeg and a creamy pumpkin custard that people crave long after Thanksgiving.
