  1. Welcome to Tetzlaff AcademyPhysical Education

  2. Physical Education Content Standards • 1. Demonstrate motor skills and movement patterns needed to perform a variety of physical activities. • 2. Demonstrate knowledge of movement concepts, principles, and strategies as they apply to learning and performance of activities. • 3. Assess and maintain a level of physical fitness to improve health and performance.

  3. Physical Education Content Standards • 4. Demonstrate knowledge of physical fitness concepts, principles, and strategies to improve health and performance. • 5. Demonstrate and utilize knowledge of psychological and sociological concepts, principles, and strategies as applied to learning and performance of physical activity.

  4. How do I earn my grade in P.E.? • Homework • Work can be turned in late but grade will be lowered • Written Tests • Skills Application/Assessment • Fitness Challenge • PARTICIPATION

  5. What should I wear? • PE Uniform • Buy from PTSA for $20 • Gray shirt and navy blue shorts • No pockets • Sized to fit – not oversized • Must have your name on shirt and shorts • Athletic / tennis shoes and socks • Shoes must lace up not slip on • Sweatshirt and sweatpants (optional) • Gray, blue, or black (name on inside) • Worn over PE clothes

  6. If you forget your P.E. clothes… • Borrow from PE office near the boys locker room before the tardy bell rings • Return borrowed clothes before the end of period • Borrowing per quarter • 1x = no penalty • 2x = detention • 3x = detention and call home • 4 or more times = office referral for not bringing materials

  7. What if I need to be excused? • Bring a note. • Include date, name, why excused, how long you need to be excused • More than 3 days = note from doctor or school nurse • Plan to participate as much as you are able • If absent, student must ask for make-up work and/or homework assignment.

  8. Things to Remember • Do not bring backpacks to PE • Backpacks must be stored in hall lockers • Bring your materials everyday. • Do not share lockers or PE clothes • Must have liability form on file to use fitness lab equipment

  9. 7th Grade Units • Project Adventure, Fitness,Toss-Catch-Throw-Strike Skills (softball and soccer), Volley Tennis, Frisbee, Track, Pickleball, Racquetball, Table Tennis, Dance, Team Handball, Tumbling, Juggling, Medieval Games, and Olympics

  10. 8th Grade Units • Project Adventure, fitness, soccer, volleyball, softball, football, square dance, hockey, lacrosse, basketball, track and field, golf, and Olympics

  11. State Fitness Testing • 5th, 7th, and 9th grades • Must pass five of six in 9th or 10th grade to meet 2yr PE exemption in high school • Aerobic Capacity – mile or pacer • Abdominal Strength / Endurance – curl-ups • Upper Body Strength – push-ups • Body Composition – BMI • Trunk Extensor Strength / Flexibility – trunk lift • Flexibility – shoulder stretch or sit and reach

  12. Special Activities • Teacher / Student Golf Tournament • Local 5K runs • Family Fun Night – October 18th • 6PM – 7:30PM • Come dressed to “play”

  13. Fundraisers • Purpose of fundraisers Fitness room equipment such as: Rowers, fitness machines, Xbox Kinect • Family Dinner Night Fundraisers • BJ’s – November 14 • Jog-a-thon – November 29

  14. Physical Education Wish List • Carpet store samples • Table tennis equipment, including tables • Athletic equipment (used or new) • Tennis balls, basketballs, soccer balls, junior size footballs, softball gloves • Rubbing alcohol • Spray bottles

  15. GIRLS X-Country Volleyball Softball / Soccer Basketball Track BOYS X-Country Football Basketball Soccer Track What after school sports does Tetzlaff have? Seasons last six weeks. Listen for announcements to sign-up. Practices are Monday through Thursday with games on Wednesday. Must not be on the non-activity list.

  16. What does the magnet mean for P.E.? • Use of written assignments and tests that support content standards • Use of engaging activities that foster analytical reasoning and problem solving while teaching the content standards
