  2. King Cobra - Reptile The King Cobra is a member of the reptile family. All reptiles have scales and lay eggs. Reptiles have been on earth For millions of years.

  3. Map of habitat King Cobras are found in the rainforest areas of south and south east Asia. They like rainy and humid areas like swamps and rivers.

  4. Type of Habitat The place that a snake calls home is its habitat. The king cobra lives in the ground in burrows. A king cobras habitat is it’s home.

  5. Food All snakes are meat eaters. King Cobras eat mice, rats, lizards, birds, frogs, and fish. Once their bellies are full, they can go months without food.

  6. Reproduction King cobras are the only snakes to build a nest for their eggs. The female snakes lay about 24 eggs at a time. It takes 60 to 70 days for the snake eggs to hatch. The babies are born 12-25 inches long.

  7. Prey/Predator A snake predators is hawks, eagles, birds, pigs, skunks and coyotes. A king cobra likes to snack on mice, rabbits, eggs, and other small animals. One bite from a king cobra can kill an elephant or twenty people.

  8. Camouflage A king cobra hides itself using it’s camouflage. Depending on where the cobra is from, the skin can be different colors. They can match their surroundings.

  9. Protection When a predator is near, the king cobra first will run and hide. If that does not work, the snake will attack. Even if you climb a tree – the king cobra will follow.

  10. King Cobra Unique Facts: • Likes the vibration from the flute – not the sound • It’s shy and tries to hide instead of fight • Can grow over 18 feet long • Has olive color skin • Hisses and growls to warn others • Injects more venom than most snakes
