  2. This presentation is an attempt: To describe how, in Bangladesh,we are trying to monitor MDG using ICT in near future.

  4. Core Activities of BBS related to ICT & MDG Census Activities : • Population and Housing Census • Agriculture Census • Economic Census

  6. Goal 8: Develop a global partnership for development Target 18 In cooperation with the private sector make available the benefits of new technologies, specifically information and communications.

  7. ICT Used • Census :(a) ICR (Intelligent Character Recognition) (b) CD, DVD & VCD for publicity & training. • Surveys: (a) Laptop, Mobile Phone (b) Digital Weight Machine (c) Multimedia (d) Digital Camera (e) Internet & Fax Modem

  10. Google Map can be used to locate … GIS GPS given to all, area of the countryprevailingworse or better situation GPS

  11. National Population Register • Statistics Division with Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics is planning to launch NPR. • A data base will be built and updated at the lowest administrative unit of the country. • Coordinate with other government agencies to include their data in the system.

  12. National Population Register (Cont. ) • A project has been prepared by SD to set a ongoing health and demographic data source. • we need fund and collaboration from different agencies.

  13. We planned to: • Improve ICT backbone & data communication system • Improve staff skills & motivation • Provide more logistics support , net working and user friendly data retrieval methods • Internet, Website and Data Archiving facility • Arrange early dissemination of report and publications • Prepare new sampling frame for surveys • Develop national geographical information system and electronic data base
