  1. RUN COORDINATOR’SREPORT 13-20 March 2006 Thomas Schörner-SadeniusUniversität Hamburg ZEUS Monday MeetingDESY, 20. März 2006

  2. SUMMARY ¶ Probably my first run coordinator week without major (or only minor) desasters. – access, cooling, evacuation, fire … ¶ Lumi this week: – HERA delivered: 4.88 pb-1 – ZEUS gated: 3.26 pb-1 – Largest fill: 1.02 pb-1 delivered – best fill: 91% efficiency ¶ Two very nice fills, else suffering from backgrounds or ZEUS problems; – sometimes efficiency below 50% – average efficiency 66% TSS: Run Coordinator Report

  3. HERA PERFORMANCE ¶ Currents up to 87 and 37 mA, respectively. ¶ Instantaneous (specific) lumi up to 4*1031 (2*1030) ¶ Polarization going up to almost 40%. TSS: Run Coordinator Report

  4. HERA PROBLEMS today:- beam loss because of sender east-right. sunday:- computer problems no electrons. Tuesday:- proton injection problems- e- transmitter problems- Temperature alarms north- bad e- injection efficiency- feedback system …- rather bad backgrounds thursday:- bad backgrounds- “conflict” between H1 VFPS and ZEUS conditions (orbit). Wednesday:- proton magnet PS+cooling 2 short breaks- then p lost during ramping.- H1 e- dump saturday:- temperature alarm WR e- dump after lumi declaration- lifetime problems. TSS: Run Coordinator Report

  5. ZEUS PROBLEMS ¶ VETO wall excluded because of problem with GSLT interface card. ¶ FMUON: – some readout problems  excluded for large parts. – water leak on Sunday  excluded. ¶ FTD/STT: few times in error after activate, stuck in trans ¶ CAL: – stuck in trans, a few times “no busy response from CAL” – once RCAL transputer not reachable, BCAL digital crate off. ¶ HES: hc3 PS trip  module R17 silent  needs access. ¶ CDAQ: two times Ulf had to restart processes (FLINK, run number server) ¶ MVD: “SC_ALIGN_INSERT” process needed to be restarted. ¶ CTD HV program crashes (2) ¶ one noisy CFLT channel causing slightly high deadtime. ¶ BAC causing high deadtime  new calibration needed. TSS: Run Coordinator Report

  6. ZEUS PERFORMANCE ¶ … and on top of that bad backgrounds from time to time … – proton-induced – synchroton radiation TSS: Run Coordinator Report
