A: All students are able to check out one book at a time. All books may be renewed for up to one week. 6. General Information: • STAR testing: STAR is an acronym for Standardized Test for the Assessment of Reading. The purpose of STAR Reading is to assess student reading skills. • This assessment provides an approximate measure of each students' reading level (ZPD). Their ZPD will allow students to choose books that are in an appropriate reading level for successful reading and comprehension. • Accelerated Reader: Students choose a book on their level, as determined by the STAR test. After reading, the student may take a test using the AR program either in their classroom or in the media center. Points are automatically given for accuracy. • Volunteers: Volunteers are an important element in our library and are always welcomed! Volunteers are needed to help shelve books, put up displays, and provide clerical support. Please contact Mrs. Todd to set up your time to volunteer!
