    1. Certification in Geographic Information Science Wright State University Department of Urban Affairs and Geography The Program focuses on Extended training in the areas of Geographic Information Systems, Cartography and Remote Sensing in order to complement a major field of study. Students learn the latest developments in data collection and analysis techniques, aerial and space cameras and sensors, photographic materials and reproductive processes, and mapping procedures, including computer mapping. Successful completion of the Certificate Program requires the student to carry a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 for undergraduates and 3.0 for graduates in these five courses.

Certification in Geographic Information Science Wright State University Department of Urban Affairs and Geography Core Courses Focus on Geographic Information Systems (GIS) GEO 447/647 Introduction to GIS 5 credits GEO 448/648 Advanced GIS 5 credits Remote Sensing GEO 381/681 Remote Sensing 4 credits GEO 382/682 Remote Sensing of the Environment 4 credits Cartography and Visualization GEO 365/665 Cartography 5 credits Upon completion of the five required courses, students must present a portfolio of what the student considers to be the best of his/her projects and research reports. The portfolio includes scholastic achievements in the cartography, geographic information systems, and remote sensing courses. Three faculty will review the portfolio.
